What's Catching You Fish?

very cool shot of the bugs on your net - can't wait to get out there!
I love the sparseness of that, a lot a damsel nymphs are ways over dressed imo. Did you try a dry? With that size of a hatch, a dry mating damsel should work too. Anyway, awesome

My dry damsel game is weak. I tried one several times to active fish but nada

Agree on the skinny ties and not too big either. For a nymph I like this Phil's Lion's Mane pattern

or I combine it with an articulated wiggle tail.

is that a dab of epoxy on the tail midway?
Yes, very observant of you. Phil twists the tail maribou into a rope then adds a drop of resin. Watch the end of the Lion's Mane vid. He sez it gives the tail another pivot point...but it also keeps the 'bou fibers together like a skinny nymph tail instead of all waving around seperately.

Cheers

Over here it's a well presented mahogany mayfly spinner size 12-14 on one watershed for big browns or cutts.

And over on the Big River a 5 or 6 weight floating line to a size 10 hippie stomper or chubby in purple with a 2-3' dropper to a quick sink bead head nymph in size 14-16. A brite green bodied tungsten head Perdigon is the guides current choice

Much tougher fishing this go-around but not for lack of trying, with many hours and miles covered per day via land and sea. Only landed four, with two on my home-tied bucktail jigs. Morning minus tides meant I was wade fishing super shallow weedy water and afternoon high rowboat tides were accompanied by high winds.

This flatwing and a light blue/white Adachi Clouser were the only flies that produced.

Looks like an awesome outing👍. wish we had waters like that in my area
Actually we just found the place last weekend on a scouting trip. I spent 3 hours one morning working my way up the flat fishing. Nothing was taking. One fish humiliated me as I left a hole by rolling on the surface taking something. Nothing in the air, rocks, etc. was a crap shoot until I tried Adams.
Talked to a guy last night, he says it’s tough fishing. Even has brook trout which surprised me as I can normally catch them easily even during the day.

I finally got out for the first time in a long time today. It felt great! The last time I fished a stream was on the way back from the first annual swap meet.

This wee snowshoe muddler got a handful of small cutts. I didn't get pictures of the 4-6 inch fish cause I was dog wrangling and only have two hands.

Rigby did great on and off leash. He went a bit too far from me a couple times but he came when I whistled. He learned how to cross streams and what a current can do. I tired him out😎

Saw a dead snek.

The 7 foot 3 weight S-glass rod I bought from @Wetswinger was a joy on this water. You build a nice rod, sir!
