What Are You Eating?

Brute, did your market say where the king salmon was sourced from? Most white kings locally this time of year are from the Skagit or Harrison (Frazer) River systems. I'm always curious to know more about fish. Also, was that plank cedar?

One more culinary question, about the corn. How do you avoid over-cooking it on the grill? I've eaten corn cooked in the husk on a grill and microwaved, and it was invariably overdone. Which is why I only do corn, husked, for 3 minutes exactly, dropped into 1/4" of boiling water, covered, to steam it. Corn, like fish and steak, should never be overcooked, IMO.
I bbq corn in husk. First I open the tops slightly and run cold water inside then wrap husk back up. Then place on hot grill, rotate every so often, until the outer husk layers char a bit. Remove from grill, place in pan, cover with foil, set aside. Go cook the steaks to whatever desire. Let them rest a bit. Serve. Corn is the right temp for some salted butter and dig in…!!

Hadn't been out to eat since mom got sick, but last night we got out to Tokyo Hibachi. I only spent a decade in the kitchen biz, but I'm pretty hard to impress. This was one of the best meals I've had served to me ever. After rice came scallops, shrimp, chicken, beef and lots of veggies. Got a good fire video but no way to post it. Good time with the family.

Awesome Tom! Also glad that you and your family were able to get out.

Breakfast.
Harvested my first tomato of the year. So much better than store bought and go perfectly with Walla Walla sweets.
There is guac and extra sharp cheddar under the bacon and egg.

Soap Lake - Mi Cocinita (don't be afraid to ask for potatoes with bacon (----^) or potatoes with chorizo instead of Mexican rice with your huevos rancheros. There's potatoes with bacon and jalapenos hidden under the fresh salsa covered eggs. This is a seriously DELICIOUS breakfast.
