I don't know if any of you have experience with that mysterious individual that can take up residence in your house. Goes by various names like "I don't know," "Wasn't Me," "No Idea," etc etc. But this particular individual locked me out of one of my freezers earlier this week.
This is an older (probably 80s/90s era) upright freezer we got from my wife's parents house that we keep in the garage. I mostly use it to store various ocean fishing baits and misc fish meat I use for smoking, jerky, etc. It has a lock and key on it, and in the 7yrs we have had this freezer, we have NEVER once removed the key from the lock. It stays in the lock, and we just use it to make sure it stays sealed.
Well, the aforementioned mysterious roommate decided to remove this key from the lock while the freezer was locked, so I can no longer get into the freezer.
I've checked, and there's no code stamped on the lock to copy the key, and no apparent way to remove the lock without a drill. I don't want to damage it if I can avoid it, but I'm totally clueless in the world of locksmithing, and don't really want to pay someone a lot of money to come out and unlock a freezer.
Before I take any action, does anyone here have any advice?
