- Airflo Trout Exceed WF9F 100', head 43', 30'-276gr, head-370grSuper pumped about my new Super Dri Exceed fly line that I got in the mail today, now I have an excuse to buy a 9 wt rod. JK, sort of. Anyone know the grain weight of the head on this line?
Cheers
That's the primary reason I grabbed a couple.I'm going to try mine for carp on my beefy 8wt.
Gorge Fly Shop still has some info on it- https://gorgeflyshops.blogspot.com/2018/05/airflo-super-dri-xceed-fly-line.html
I just put mine on my big Allen 9/10 reel and the first thing I thought was "damn this thing is orange!"That's the primary reason I grabbed a couple.
but only after I experiment with the orange head of the power taper I also have....just to really see if it matters....so far, no. it doesn't....then again, once August rolls around, may be a different story (I'm also rolling with a 16' leader)
Is there any sink tip lines? thanks KevinTHAT'S RIGHT! SO MANY OF THEM! LIKE, DOZENS!
WHY AM I YELLING!?
Because these were passed on to me to take to the swap n shop last week to get them out of the way. Now it's my turn to get them out of the way.
There's a few dozen BRAND NEW Super-Dri XCEED fly lines. These are from probably 2017-2018 or so vintage. The catch? They are allllllllll 9wt lines. So what does one do with a 9wt floating line? Well, if not bassin' then you could cut the running line off for any number of franken-lines you have.
Other things you can do:
- Make a Strong Rope – Use it for tying down gear, securing objects, or replacing broken shoelaces.
- Create a Survival Bracelet – Keep a length of line on your wrist for emergencies.
- Build a Shelter – Use it to tie branches together for a temporary shelter.
- Emergency Tourniquet – Can be used to stop bleeding in a survival situation.
- Hang Food from Trees – Keep food away from animals by suspending it with line.
- Craft a Bow Drill for Fire Starting – Helps in friction-based fire-making techniques.
- Repair Gear – Replace broken straps on backpacks or gear using fly line.
- Make a Dog Leash or Collar – Durable and lightweight alternative for pets.
- Secure a Boat or Raft – Use one to tie down your boat to a dock or secure items onboard.
- Create a Trap or Snare – Useful in survival situations to catch small game.
- DIY Handles & Grips
The best part? They're completely free! If you pay for shipping, you can have as many as you want!

Just the Airflo 9wt Xceed floatersIs there any sink tip lines? thanks Kevin
Would the $8 cover shipping two, or do I need to add another to the cart?
Thanks
would a Steffen 8/9 glass with above AF line be appropriate for juvie tarpon?...It really pairs nicely with my Steffen 8/9 glass. I've been using mine for capr.
Would probably be great with a faster action graphite 8wt too!
Probably. Mine handled the bonito and Aussie salmon pretty easily. But I've also never fished for juvie tarpon either. Gotta say though, it's such a damn fun rod to fish! So much so that I've caught trout, bass, steelhead, carp, and now Aussie salmon and bonito on it. I just really enjoy fishing it. If per chance you're ever in the PDX area, lmk and you can have a go with it.would a Steffen 8/9 glass with above AF line be appropriate for juvie tarpon?...
Long term? No. Short term? Sure. Also got a 12+wt Seele glass rod that you could borrow more long term that's an absolute fish tamer. I'll hit you up once I'm back stateside.Someone want to long term lend me like a 12wt Steffen?
