I just put mine on my big Allen 9/10 reel and the first thing I thought was "damn this thing is orange!" 😁 2nd thing is "and it's fat!" Haha! Like you said... we'll see when they get spooky.
I've read about a few guys liking it for carp. I'm using it on a beefy Fly Project- Project One 8wt.
My primary setup will still be an 8wt MPX stealth on a 8wt Aetos. I like that combo a LOT so far.
I think this Xceed will be better for short casts and long leaders than the current backup, a Masters Bonefish line. The bonefish is great for long casts, but too light for the shorter stuff, especially with heavier flies.

Because these were passed on to me to take to the swap n shop last week to get them out of the way. Now it's my turn to get them out of the way.

There's a few dozen BRAND NEW Super-Dri XCEED fly lines. These are from probably 2017-2018 or so vintage. The catch? They are allllllllll 9wt lines. So what does one do with a 9wt floating line? Well, if not bassin' then you could cut the running line off for any number of franken-lines you have.

Other things you can do:

  • Make a Strong Rope – Use it for tying down gear, securing objects, or replacing broken shoelaces.

save two or three for me...I'm trying to find a slot to drive down to your neck of the woods with some jigging and light trolling rods and reels...for barter
 
Been wondering when this post would come LOL. As someone who grabbed one of these at the WFF gathering at Mayfield Lake, I struggle to understand why anyone wouldn't want a free fly line or two. Perhaps you could use sections of one of these lines to make shooting heads for your lighter rods... for free. Really don't need a 9-wt. Line? Use it to tie plants to stakes in your garden or something. And if you happen to have an 8 or 9-wt. rod, it might make for a good shallow saltwater line.
 
It really pairs nicely with my Steffen 8/9 glass. I've been using mine for capr.

Would probably be great with a faster action graphite 8wt too!

Probably. Mine handled the bonito and Aussie salmon pretty easily. But I've also never fished for juvie tarpon either. Gotta say though, it's such a damn fun rod to fish! So much so that I've caught trout, bass, steelhead, carp, and now Aussie salmon and bonito on it. I just really enjoy fishing it. If per chance you're ever in the PDX area, lmk and you can have a go with it.

Long term? No. Short term? Sure. Also got a 12+wt Seele glass rod that you could borrow more long term that's an absolute fish tamer. I'll hit you up once I'm back stateside.
