Your right, but this "The issue has been exacerbated by uncertainty at the federal level, including recent layoffs at the U.S. Forest Service." and more have forced some of these unfortunate decisions.

Yeah I think it'll wind up to be wrong on the forecast, but starting out dry going into the dry season in July isn't good.

Fin, I am going to chose reality over excuses and cliches. Just blackle "states having to make unfortunate decisions due to Fed. Cuts in ___________________". You fill in the blank and get a good dose of reality. I applaud states for doing the best they can under the worse conditions they have ever had to endure.
 
At least we know there will be less resources preventing fires. Probably less resources to fight them also.

Now is the time for a burn ban through October.

Not to get too political, but it’s not the job nor purpose of the Fed. gov’t to prop up the State’s coffers and programs. States have been emboldened to do stupid things with the support of Fed dollars, which the people really don’t want nor would support. Without the Fed’s money, the States idiocy would be minimal.
 
No need to go there, IMHO.

Non-political, civil discussion allows us to learn more.

Yeah it’s like July in the west side rivers already. All the foxgloves are in full bloom too, about 2-3 weeks early. I’m still holding out hope for June-uary in the second half of the month. 🤞
