PNW Fly Fishing Semi-Official Swap, Shop, Fish & Eat - May 17, 2025

I had to leave early to help out back home but I am 100% glad I went and got to hang with such a super solid group of humans. Maybe we can’t all be amazing small engine mechanics but what a generous and welcoming group. Thank you to everyone who I got to meet and—people, just know that Gary’s bread tastes even better than it looks online. Evan’s Neapolitan pizza recipe travels very well. Jerry is a hero for making killer breakfast burrito fillings for a hungry, bleary eyed crowd. Mark’s bamboo rods cast (and look) oh so sweet. Jake’s homemade wooden canoe and paddles are beyond impressive. And more. Just thanks to everyone for your generosity and just not being dicks. Blub y’all and this group as whole. Feel free to reach out any time! I’m looking forward to more in person meet ups in the future and now, more informed online banter.

Good time had today. Fishing was a bit of a bust, but @BriGuy nailed a steelhead smolt, and we all heard @clarkman express extreme displeasure at missing a tiger muskie eat from camp at one point. Was good to put a few new names to faces, a pleasure to cast @Kado 's 12-weight bamboo rod, and fun trying to huck @clarkman 's monster "practice fly" at target stakes. @Gary Knowels
sourdough and cookies were amazing.

Lots of glass and bamboo, which was cool to see (and play with). Also scored a couple free Airflo 9-wt. floating lines (@Evan B was working hard to get rid of a whole case of them) and a sweet PNWflyfishing.com branded carp sticker!

Thanks to everyone for a good time.

Ditto to all the above. I'm home and tired but wanted to thank everyone who came out and contributed their own piece of what made it all come together and be its own kind of enjoyable.

Didn't offload all the gear I tried to 😂 but I did come home with a sweet vintage 7wt glass rod and Young Multiplier reel for a fun "new" carp/capr setup.

Also came back with a strong desire to learn what I need to do to own a @Kado 12wt bamboo.

So. Many. Calories. Consumed.

It was wonderful meeting many new members and catching up with old acquaintances today. I got a real strong hit of community today. It's something I, and others, struggle with at times, not always feeling connected to a community and this place, made up of you all, provides some of that to me.

I'd like to echo everyone else's sentiments about the event. It was wonderful meeting and hanging out with a great group of people. It was nice to put faces to names and meet in person. I hope we can do this again sometime.

Thanks also to Evan and the others who organized and contributed to make it happen.

Next time, let's invite the fish!

Great to meet all y'all....

what fun camping trip!

don't really need to add much more than already has....that was a blast!

I managed to make it home in time to cook breakfast for the family this morning and then g scratch out a couple of carp at a local ditch and now cooking up a late lunch with leftover food that I didn't even touch from the weekend 'cause Jerry flat out goes all out!

It should be noted that sound does indeed travel quite well over water....probably also a good thing that y'all didn't hear ALL of the names I called that fish!
