Hoyt is an excellent bow choice ....Well, this thread got expensive in a hurry. Ordered the rifle yesterday but also ordered a Hoyt Highline bow with various doodads that totaled slightly more than the rifle.

I know I'm more accurate with a Creedmoor vs a 7mm or 300 Ultra Mag, and would take accuracy over velocity any time. With a good hit, a Creedmoor should be plenty. If you're looking at a rifle chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor, take a good look at the Sauer XT100 Classic.
However, I agree the 6.5 Creedmoor might be bit light for elk sized game. My elk rifle is a Kimber-refurbished Mauser 98, chambered in 280 Ackley Improved. But since that's an obscure cartridge, go with a 308, 30.06, 300 Win mag or a 7mm Rem Mag
What is the Creedmoor's weight if you don't mind my asking?I know I'm more accurate with a Creedmoor vs a 7mm or 300 Ultra Mag, and would take accuracy over velocity any time. With a good hit, a Creedmoor should be plenty.
I meant the actual weight of the Creedmoor itself. This is what I have for this next season. I'll be after both elk and blacktail with these. For target rounds, I'm shooting 140gr

Ah the rifle. Without a scope or bipod, a whopping 6.6lb for my Savage.I meant the actual weight of the Creedmoor itself.
Yeah I've thought about it. I go through a lot of 9mm and 45acp and those have been inspiring me to start hand loading. I'd get a Creedmoor die as well if I started.Evan, if you hand load that 6.5 creedmoore, you can get a little more velocity out of it. I'm running about 2750 with 140 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips. Working up a load for the 140 grain Accubond now.
What do you mean "now?" I grew up on a farm and have harvested many, many furry and feathered critters with firearms. Always been doin the shootinholy heck, evan is shooting stuff meow?!?!

I did have a lull in such activity for a while as my entire gun collection got stolen by a former family member. Between that and being super committed to steelhead during hunting season got me distracted. But I've been going back to my old ways of late.
I also do the tunas. And the halibuts. And the slammons. I even still do steelhead, but prefer them straight out of the Columbia proper.i know, just thought you had "deep dived" into Tuna or what not off shore after steelheads been chit last 12 years.
