Working on some Chinook patterns in the 3.5 - 4" range with some profile, contrast and flash while trying to keep them as light weight as I can for this spring and summer.

Great question, more often than not I default to over dressing most of what I tie unless I'm mindful about it. So maybe a better description of my goal should be not over built/dressed vs not overweight.

You can see I am using cones and dumbells but really trying to keep the bodies thin on the interior but with some structure, synthetic dubbing balls, shoulders etc to support the marabou, schlappen and ostrich where used. Anyway that's what I'm shooting for, hopefully tips plus lack of bulk, cones and beads along with lack of bulk will get them in the zone!

Thanks man, that makes sense! I dig your ties, and often find myself trying to balance the profile/movement/sink rate/castability matrix at the vise. My wife caught me spinning rabbit fur in a loop and made the mistake of asking me why I didnt just wrap the hide.... 30 minutes later she just walked away

I really like spinning rabbit for collars on stringy leech type things and it seems like just about everything swimming in our cold water rivers locally has at least a passing interest in them plus the color combos are fun to goof around with.

Every late Spring or early Summer on a local river, I encounter the occasional Yellow Sally or Little Yellow Stonefly. There aren't many of them, they aren't prolific, but their bright yellow-green coloration as they flutter above the river is unmistakable. So, this winter, I thought I'd try to craft some Yellow Sally parachutes to give a try this Spring.
