Lake etiquette very poor today

I have a nephew, several actually, that is a cop. One Sunday morning he's off duty and pulling his bass boat to the lake. An impatient woman starts tailgating him and eventually goes fly past him while flipping him off with both hands! Then cuts back into the lane nearly hitting him before speeding off down the road. My nephew grabs his cell and calls his LEO buddy who should be working that stretch of road and tells him to look for her. Pretty soon my nephew passes her as she's now pulled over.

Later he asks his buddy how the stop went. She was ticketed for speeding. Her excuse was that she was late for church.

Bad lake etiquette to road rage...I can see that... so here you go
Summer of 85, my teammate and I were driving back to Goldendale from a summer league basketball game in Yakima. We were 17 year olds and he was driving. It was late, probably 10pm.
We barely got out of Toppenish and this psycho starts tailgating. Not sure if you've ever driven from Toppenish to Goldendale. It's about as remote as it gets, especially back in 85. Well, my teammate had a temper so he starts brake checking.
I'm still not sure how we didn't get rear-ended and even more unsure how we didn't slam into the guy when he passed us (doing about 90) and then slammed his brakes. At one point he turned his lights off to mess with us.

My teammate finally pulled the ole "I'm going to pass him and leave him safely behind us" like Clark Griswold and essentially raced over and down Satus Pass all the way to the courthouse. We slid to a stop and he ran inside to alert the sheriff. Of course, being a dumb kid I stayed in the car. Haha! I watched as the dude slowly circled the courthouse in his early 80s Pontiac LeMans. Sorry if you have a Lemans, but it will forever be a psycho killer car for me. 😁

We lived. I made sure I was able to drive my mom's car after that or I rode with someone else!

you need these citations to hand out...

Be careful out there.
Brake checking and flipping off drivers displaying bad driving behavior is symptomatic of people with low emotional intelligence, and is very often evidence of many other major problems in their private and public life. Tragedy is just around the corner when such an individual has an encounter with another individual with the same tendencies.

We had an employee with years of disciplinary issues (related to a lack of the ability to manage anger, and eventually terminated after a very violent incident at work) who triggered two serious off-work vehicle accidents (one of them with his small child in his vehicle) brake checking other drivers. In one incident the idiot was riding his motorcycle and hard brake checked a car he decided was following too close.

Most end up in Criminal trials but that is not all, there is a Civil trial that can wipe out a lifetime of personal freedom and $$$. Best thing is to avoid the angry person and head to a Law Enforcement Office, I have both Sheriff and State Troopers in my 'hood.

We've several LEOs from a variety of agencies in my immediate neighborhood, and damned happy about it.

For many, many years now when I encounter an aggressive/foolish/careless/irritating/etc. driver, I just say/think "Thanks for giving me an opportunity to practice my defensive driving skills." A much more calming and safer approach . . .

Road cycling used to be quite a passion of mine. I would take it personally when drivers got too close or otherwise did stupid/threatening things. There may have been some profanities yelled and middle fingers raised. Eventually, I came to the realization that I will never come out on top in any confrontation. 200lbs of rider and bicycle is no match for a car, SUV or truck. I'm the one with everything to lose. They only get a dented or scratched vehice. At that point, I stopped retaliating and went on my way. Not much I could have done, anyway.

It turns out that that has helped me when I drive my car or truck, too. I figure dipshits will be dipshits and I spend a little more effort trying to anticipate any other dipshit moves than "getting even". Oh, I'll still cuss and maybe use my horn or lights, but that's about it. They'll be gone after a few seconds anyway.

Still breathing, luckily...

Blocking the launch is the worst. Not you Roper. 😁 I'm talking about this dude...

Guessing it was the first time out in a while, or ever. The boat must have been empty because they spent 10 minutes loading it up with all sorts of crap. Oh and, there are 2, almost 3 lanes on this launch and he managed to use them all.

That’s also a “No internal combustion engines allowed” lake, if I recognize it right. Those goombahs, did they rip it up water skiing on that pond or what?
