Post your first fish of 2025 here

Addition isn’t rocket science albula……I’ve always been competitive starting with trying to outfish my dad, then my son would try to beat me and now my fishing buddies so I’ve always kept track of fish, but that’s just me. I was a carpenter, then recently retired from helping teach elementary students so simple math isn’t hard…..but I used to use a “fish” counter and now Tom bought us (more for him….he can’t count past five!) a counter like a pitch counter for baseball.
It’s just numbers, but when you ask somebody “how’d you do today?” and they say “pretty good” well that to some could be three?? But to each their own. I also keep a yearly log/count but not necessarily accurate data, but I can look back at the action per months.

Ah Ha........ I've always admired your success from afar AND wondered how-the-hell you kept track of your impressive numbers. Way to go!!

That’s funny Ron! After all….it’ll be 59 years fly tying/fishing this May…..I should be able to do simple addition and us fly fishers never stretch the truth!! I also fish a lot….just ask my wife!

Just bought my 2025 fishing license this morning and ended up with this kinda small, unimpressive wild hen of maybe 5-6lb. But it's something 🥳.

She did fight way better than she looks. Lots of acrobatics and partying.

Nice basket! Can I see a bigger picture of that? I saw @Roper using something similar and might want to add it to my boat gear.

Been busy and have had to back burner fishing for too long to take care of obligations that aren’t nearly as much fun. Snuck out and made my first casts of 2025 recently.

3rd cast of 2025 pictured below. The next fish was on my 4th cast. I’m looking forward to more of this until mid April.

March 5th and I finally catch a fish. Darc Knobel picked me up this morning, we went exploring to see if the ice was off "the" lake, it was and it wasn't meaning there's still ice but it looked rotten and there's lots of open water.

No fish pic, just the fly.
