Post your first fish of 2025 here

oh shoot, I forgot to get the trophy shot of my little 6" whitefish caught yesterday....

Caught a bull trout for my first fish of 2025. About 19", from a coastal stream. My camera slid to the bottom of my pack. Not that I would have taken a photo; we've all seen a bull trout before.
My first was a whitefish of about 12 inches, hooked on a bead. Hooked a steelhead later in the day (on a fly, even!), but it whipped me.

Next day, I fished HARD (and my guide worked even harder) for two bites. Lost the first one when it went airborne in a tailout but managed to land the other one. Brand new hatchery chromer, but only about 5 lbs. Hard as we worked for that one, though, it felt pretty good. According to the fish checker, we were the only boat (among quite a few) that got anything. Tough fishing for sure. January can be that way....

As you can see, as usual, I have no pics to post. It didn't occur to me I should photograph a 12" whitey with a bead in its face, and the steelhead I got was nothing special (and also got filleted at the takeout before I could think to take a pic for this post).

I'm not doing this right, am I?
