Never seen one with the bead head.First attempts at a rolled muddler but something doesn't look right. Deer hair is kind of a pain in the ass.
Used to be one of my favorite SRC patterns. Use to tie them in olive as well.Never seen one with the bead head.
Here's a article from the originator : https://flyfishers.ca/2023/10/rolled-muddler/
This is the only one I have in my box. A bit beat up from SRC's
Looks great! I do like tying with deer hair myself, a new and sharp razor makes it easier I’ve found. You can really tighten and flare them with Gsp thread without adding bulk, nano silk is pretty much all I use nowadays.View attachment 134208

Yeah, I used gsp and a new razor. After watching a few more videos I'm going to try trimming with scissors. Seems like that might give the look I'm going for. Not that it matters for fishing.Looks great! I do like tying with deer hair myself, a new and sharp razor makes it easier I’ve found. I have ben tying and fishing this fly for many years. It catches fish, wellIf you Google Cutthroat Candy fly pattern you'll find a bunch of patterns by the same name. I can remember back in the day when there were a lot of guys calling the Borden Special Cutthroat Candy. God only knows how many different patterns go by the Caddis Fly Larva handle
I fish a similar pattern on the Hoh, for silvers , spey casting.
