Definitely is whitie season. Fished a couple days last week and it was probably 3 to 1 if not higher. Lost a monster at my feet - true Pinocchio

Yeah, I was probably 4-5 to 1. I was also primarily targeting slower whitefish water. Rainbows were all still in a little faster water.
 
Love the bobber color! I need to get out there again, I've been neglecting it all fall. With all the wet weather coming looks like that will be soon!
 
I think those bait guys were onto something! It's really easy to see in low light conditions...This one's the smallest Oros

I like bi-colored indicators for Stillwater and have been known to marker up a river rig. The contrast helps make smaller tilts more visible.

That's seems to be the rule of thumb. I know on the Deschutes the whitefish prefer the slower water than the redsides.

Exactly! At least until the water cools way down and many of the trout will move into that same water.

some smallish golden stone....probably a size 10 or 12 long with something like a 4mm bead

It’s a proven killing fly.
I’ll have to dust that one off in the Expo tying rotation soon. Not in 2025…maybe 2026. 😉

I literally just got my stuff in to hopefully get a little better slots both days in March.

I’ll be tyin in March…got that in about three weeks ago. Just meant, I’ll be tyin’ up something new for the show. 😁
