To be fair, though, the Press' last Expedition into the headwaters in the beautiful Olympic Mountains didn't go so well. That one early video clip of a steelhead swimming in some kind of silty back eddy or something—not the most beautiful example of the species or its typical PNW habitat!
Maybe not in that article, but I learned something new to me from this article:Nothing new or insightful in that article.
It's good to know that Sedro is such an accepting and progressive place, right? I mean, in other places, fish exhibiting intersex characteristics is cause for alarm, but not in Sedro-Woolley. Nope, Skagit County takes PRIDE in these androgynous fishes.Gotta save those androgynous pride salmon, for sure.
I mean, young salmonids (esp. trout and sockeye) have been shown to change their gender depending on temperature, and hatcheries can use temperature to influence genders of salmonids enmasse, so it's not out of line to think that with our warming waters and fluctuating temperatures they've got some androgyny going on.It's good to know that Sedro is such an accepting and progressive place, right? There was a time when Skagit County commissioners knew what species lived where in the Skagit basin. A couple were even fishing guides. Obviously the bar for being on the commission has been lowered."The battery site would directly border Hansen Creek, which serves as habitat to five species of androgynous salmonids, both a rarity and a source of pride, said Skagit County Commissioner Peter Browning."

Luckily were not dealing with sea otters, who would decimate that run and turn that delta into a parking lot. An actual parking lot! At least sea lions dont rape the corpses of their foes and loved ones alike. Do you have abalone in the Willamette because you wouldnt have any abalone in the willamette if you has sea otters in the willamette and youd be wishing for sea lions!!This is closer to Washington waters: https://www.fisheries.noaa.gov/feat...steelhead-migrating-out-nisqually-river-delta
Humans have restricted seasons and bag limits, unless they want a big fine.
