These small starry flounders are often in 2-3 feet of water, on a gin clear tide with light right they are easy to see when moving, hard to see when waiting to pounce. One of the cooler sights is watching them swim away as you move over top of them, they kick up a sand trail. They seem to be food of choice for local osprey and there is a really good chance that Eagle stole that flounder from an Osprey cos that's one of their favorite moves....Aye, but it didn’t rhyme.
I do, though, appreciate the depth of your knowledge and ability to ID a fish from a shitty photo.
Interesting that the flounders are up high enough in the water column that osprey target them. Or, maybe it’s when they come into the shallows to feed or are dragged there on the end of a tippet and hook?
Cheers!
