FOUND: Tenkara Rod

Nah...just frustration trying to reach a trout just out of Tenkara reach.
^^^ That's a short 8' Tenkara rod that with a typical rod-length level line casts and fishes out to about 12', so quite possible 😏.
I have a couple of zoom (2 & 3 fishable length) rods that can fish at 8' for the smallest and smaller creek niche that are easy to cast, are fun for dinks, and makes an 10"-11" fish feel like a trophy. The mfg says rod has a 5:5 - slow, full flex action. That can be pretty challenging, especially with larger fish in tight brush because the rod has so much flex that the brush can interfere with setting the hook or trying to keep a larger fish under control and away from from snags and undercut banks.
There’s a broken inch or so of leader(?) on the end of the thread, but the plastic is still on the cork.
🤔 Interesting, the mfg only sells 6X (3lb) tippet and a light 2.5X (jp #2, 8lb) level line so the tippet or rod should have broken before the level line. I'd like to hear that story.

I’ve no idea. The thing telescopes out very far but is very wobbly and the tip seems very fragile—I’d be worried about fighting anything larger than a herring.

I think that 18 piece is supposed to be a 15 piece. You sure you didn't step on it or something?

Here is a fun story, just prior to the discovery of this garden stake.

We turned up to a really nice looking spot. Then a cattle dog appeared, barking its tits off. Then a Weimaraner. Then a Doberman. Then the cracked out looking landowner.

Crackhead: “You won’t have any luck here”
Me: “OK”
Crackhead is unsatisfied with my response. Picks up three sticks and throws them in the water, so the dogs go in and obliterate the spot.

I am now determined to catch a fish in front of him and his lady, right where the dogs went in. I changed fly 3 times. I succeeded.

This is amazing. I have a similar-ish story (but honestly very different). I’ll share soon

Me too, but the target lie was about 75'-100' downstream from where the rocks were thrown to get me to leave. Pretty satisfying feeling.
It's happened in saltwater too, but they were there first playing with their dogs and not trying to get me to leave. I think I got to within 200' of them.
