Big Island & Oahu 2024…and Teti’aroa

Sooo…solid 25 knots today, gusting over 30…cloudy and raining; perfect conditions.

Only saw one bonefish…right up against the shoreline bodysurfing…tried to get a cast on it, fly flew behind my head.

Yikes!

I'm just picturing anyone trying to cast in those conditions! 😆

But, I've tried and will likely try again!
 
I was trying to cast a heavy leech pattern a couple weeks ago in the wind and on my forward cast the wind kicked it around my head and took the size 8 hook to the bend in my upper cheek. I was lucky that A. it was barbless, and B. it didnt go up 2 much inches to my eye.

I feel your pain…a couple years ago I hooked myself (the first and only time) casting a leech in a heavy side wind…it ended up buried behind my right ear hooked into some cartilage…I cut the line off and couldn’t get it out myself, so I just kept fishing until I found someone to remove it. I didn’t realize it at the time, but it bled pretty good behind my neck and head…it looked like I was shot
