It appears quite a few are getting enough news outside of state propaganda to spark the protests, but nothing will change as long as Putin is in charge. Did anyone else watch the ABC piece on him intimidating and bullying his own spy chief in front of his inner circle? That guy is also a stone cold killer, and Putin treated him like a 6 year old and had the man stammering at the microphone. Putin actually said "Are you suggesting we negotiate? Are you suggesting we recognize the sovereignty of the Republics?" Think about that. He basically said "are you saying we should recognize they are their own country with their own plans and future, and the we have no right to murder them and subjugate them under our communist yoke AGAIN?" The spy chief went on state TV later to publicly support the attack on Ukraine.
Nothing will change unless Putin is removed. And more Ukrainians are dying.
You have to really understand the hatred Putin has for Ukraine and its people to really "get" this. He understands how proud they are and he now understands how resolved they are to never go back under his rule. He thought it would be a cakewalk. He sees it isn't, so he's going to old school Siege Warfare to pummel them, kill as many Ukrainians as possible, break their will and destroy them forever.
There are millions of ethnic Ukrainians living throughout Russia, but most prominently in Siberia. This started involuntarily, when Russia would burn Ukrainian villages and put everyone on trains and dump them off in the middle of Siberia with basic tools. They'd be told "we stole your land and burned your home and village, but we spared you, build a new village here."
The thing is, they survived. And later on many Ukrainians volunteered to move to Siberia and joined up with the others. There are entire towns all over Siberia that are predominately Ukrainian now. Knowing Putin, when this is all over, if Russia does take Ukraine, he'll send his goon squads up there and murder every Ukrainian they find.
