An important part of Oregon's history and heritage needs to be celebrated. Please be a part of the solution.

My wife is a native Oregonian. She took offense to the "once in a lifetime" statement. Maybe that's true in another state. But not in Oregon.

Exploding beached whale…what could possibly go wrong?

I remember many, many years ago we found a dead whale while fishing…it was already inside the reef and was being blown towards Bellows beach on the windward side. A large tiger and several Galapagos sharks were feeding on it, and would make the beach, where many people swam, in about 10-12 hours. We drove the boat into the beach where a lifeguard stand was and told them to call someone to get a line on it and tow it further offshore…needless to say, it smelled pretty ripe, but schools of ahi and mahi were also feeding in the slick, hence why we were trolling around it.

No one showed up to tow it further out and away from a public area, and the whale eventually came ashore…it was a mess taking it apart with front end loaders and excavators …and many more sharks followed it into the beach

We already know the answer to this as this has already been done. And things went so incredibly RIGHT that it has to be done again.

Bunch of softees in Oregon. Petition? If this was Alabama, a couple of locals with with 500 lbs of tannerite would have made this happen day 1.
And that's why they're smarter than we are... the get it done mentality is far superior to the study it for decades, just to be sure mentality

Signed x3 and added a video to help model the event.

This is the type of thing taxes were meant for, cmon Oregon!

I agree. IMO critical thinking and sobriety are two things that need not apply when a plan like this comes together.
Hmmm. As long as that thinking and sobriety doesn't lead to paralysis.
I was just reading about Robert Gormley and his ineffectinvess as a combat leader in the south Pacific. By all accounts he was extremely intelligent and worked extremely hard but couldn't make a decision to save his life. It took replacing him to get momentum back up in the fight for the Solomon Islands.

Level headed thinking and intelligence are not enough when things just need to get done.
