What's Catching You Fish?

Nice whitey. Sometimes on the D, they save the day. I am sure this question has been answered before, but I’m too lazy to look for it. What chenille material are you using for the extended body? Thanks.
It's this stuff. I originally bought some for bass flies, but it works very well for these. Just take a lighter to seal up the end and call it good.

Both of these put a bunch of trout the net and one whitefish. The golden was slightly more effective. The rest of the whitefish took an egg (no redsides on it).

Same story this morning, although I did get a little 5lb pikeminnow in addition to a few whities plus a few redsides.

Shoulda taken a pic of the dumb little hare's ear Caddis....but it's exactly how it sounds... picked up a decent number of these over an hour and a half session this afternoon.

Would not be surprised that bull trout took that egg pattern as a flesh fly.

That said steelhead has to be one of the "dumbest" fish that ever swam! They will literally "bite" anything. Have caught them on bare hooks and had a friend catch one on a piece of orange and watch a large winter buck charge and take a floating banana peel on the surface. Once caught a hatchery winter fish with 2 pearl buttons and another with a dime in their stomachs.

Stripping a fly can be a surprising effect method for steelhead.!
