NFR NFL 2023 Season

Evan, it definitely could be worse.
Certainly could be worse...
The played poorly with an uninspired game plan against a very good team, with a predictable outcome give how things unfolded.
Moving on to the Commanders now...

Serious question: Do you only watch the QB? We both agree Geno is not playing well, but if you think it's because "he sucks," then you aren't watching the rest of what's going on around him.

Saying we need a new QB is like saying we need a new running back because Ken Walker has to fight to get back to the line of scrimmage on every carry. Both part of the same problem. And yes, coaching is part of the problem, but more on the offensive scheming not doing them any favors. They're drawing up plays like they have an o-line that can hold up - but every run play has guys in the backfield right after the snap, and every pass play has no pocket.

Yes it is not all on Geno, but he is getting worse every game, at what point do you bench him?
The O line problem is 100% on the coach and GM, they put vey little into it, been this way since Pete got here. When they get a star lineman the quickly trade em away.

c-hawks get 3 or 4 more wins max, maybe a 7th seed playoff spot.

What I'm saying is benching him doesn't fix the issue. Anybody you put in there is going to have the same exact problem until they fix the scheme (which I don't think is going to happen). Unless Drew Lock can provide his own protection and create a forcefield around himself to create a pocket, you'll get the exact same results. QBs cannot play with what our line is currently giving them.

Carrol looked and sounded like a guy willing to make some adjustments after yesterdays game. We will see.
We won't though. It won't change. If it does, it'll be for like the first quarter of one game, and once it's working, they'll go back to Peteball. He isn't going to change his ways at this point in his career.

I see like... maybe 3 wins left. 4 if they get really scrappy.

I want to be wrong about that.

5 wins is not impossible here, it's not like Pit, Ari, Tenn, DC and Lar are powerhouse teams...the Ravens are a powerhouse team.
The weekly Monday morning overreaction is always enjoyable though.

It's either:
They suck, fire everyone
Or
They were great, going to win them all
:)

Injuries play a big role in the second half of the season, and other teams get them also.

I'm not a "sky is falling" type person. I just keep seeing the same issues every game, and they were on full display yesterday. My main issue is I just don't see it getting fixed.

Yeah, some of those teams will definitely make the team look better. I think they'll sneak in to the playoffs. Might even take the division, depending on what SF decides to do with their lives. I just personally don't anticipate a deep playoff run.

I pretty much gave up on the ’Hawks a while ago because they repeatedly failed to put together a decent O line. (Oh, and their play calling was epically poor.) The RW years were characterized by having the QB run for his life on every play, and them managing number of last minute, near miraculous wins. I guess it’s exciting…. If you like that sort of thing.
My illustrious High School football career taught me one thing; if you consistently win the line game, you’re going to do well. If not, lots of luck. I’m amazed Pete C never figured that out. I have a hard time watching that BS.

I did not anticipate a deep playoff run at the start of the year, so right now, they are about one game behind where I thought they'd be...
Tied with the 49ers for the division lead after 8 games is not a bad thing, if they improve some things on defense, and get better at game planning on offense, they will be about where I figured they'd be.

Interesting tidbit:

The Ravens have faced 3 teams with a winning record at the time of their matchup(Browns, Lions, Seahawks). They've finished those games with a combined score of 103-12.

We beat the other 2 teams...
So we got that going for us, which is nice

When a casual football observer like me can see fundamental structural flaws in the Seahawks play, I gotta' figure that the Seahawks opponents can see those flaws in spades. It seemed like Geno rarely had more than 1.5 seconds of pocket protection. That's not a very good fit for long developing pass plays. And then I'd see Lamar Jackson have 4 - 6 seconds of protection to make his pass, though he rarely needed it because he made a lot of quick short passes. And if I can see that the Hawks have one basic run play - straight up the middle - I'm guessing that the Ravens and most other teams have figured that out as well. Marshawn Lynch was such a good fit for the Seahawks because he didn't need a hole in the opposing line to run through. He either opened one up himself or just dragged up to four defenders downfield with him. None of Seattle's other RBs have been able to do that. They need a hole to run through and then their speed and agility can make them some yardage. Kinda' like Phil posted above, if you aren't winning the line game, you're likely not winning.

The Jets defense is very enjoyable to watch.
