Rain

Well it is Tuesday...but nothing here except a small fire in the hills earlier today.
Windy though, so might rustle up some precip later.

Goddess, all this talk about the heat and lack of rain makes me kind of miss these days, when each unit brought in was a refrigerator in its own right

It was nice to hear the rain coming down last night and get up this morning to wet ground.
I hope we get some more today.

We are coming out of the historically driest time of the year (weather-us.com/en/washington-usa/seattle-climate)

Fortunately in the last 31 days there have been 6 days with at least some measurable rain recorded in my rain gauge @ home.

I do wish there had been a greater accumulation because here is a nearby freestone stream CFS.

and a nearby tailwater

I'm guessing it reflects a lower 2022-2023 snowpack for the South Cascades headwaters of these streams.
They are both running very low so unfortunately the fish are getting a break from my harassment.

And from the August 22 Cliff Mass blog entry:
"Our region will warm up temporarily, Thursday through Sunday, probably into the mid-80s around Puget Sound.
But that is not what I am concerned about....but rather the potential for localized easterly winds over the western Cascades slopes during late Thursday and Friday. Easterly winds accompanied by low relative humidity could encourage wildfires.
It is important to note that mid-August to mid-September is the favored season for westside wildfires.
On Thursday, high pressure will build over Alberta and start to move southward into Montana (see map of sea level pressure, winds, and low-level temperatures at 11 PM Thursday).
That high pressure will force easterly (from the east) winds over the Cascades which will also result in warming and drying.
The geographical focus of the strong easterly winds will be the western side of the Columbia Gorge (see predicted wind gusts around 11 PM Thursday). Some easterly gusts to around 30 knots
And the Hot-Dry-Wind index, which considers dryness and wind, shows concerning values east of Portland (see below, yellow and red colors are the worst) late Thursday and early Friday)
Let me be honest.... I have seen a lot worse conditions than this (e.g., September 2020).... but folks need to be careful not to start any fires on Thursday or Friday on the western side of the Cascades, particularly near the foothills of the Cascades near Portland."

So don't play with matches and...

We got some drizzle after midnight...
So Tuesday was a bust...again.
Cool though, which is nice.
Still had to water stuff.

My confidence in Tuesdays is pretty low at this point.
Ever since society didn't collapse back in 2012 on a Tuesday, well lets just say it hasn't exactly had the best track record for days of the week.
Now Saturday, there's a reliable day.
;)

Raining as I left this morning, camera shows it’s falling at a decent rate now. Dogs bailed off the deck stoop.

Bring it on! 🌧️🎉
All we have is more smoke. Jealous of rain and marine layer.

Not a drop in Puyallup valley.

River looks like tanned leather. I saw a bunch of guys fishing it yesterday.

Jolted out of bed this am by thunder and lightning right over the house, followed by a downpour and I hadn't put the patio chairs so they are soaked. Be good for the lawn though.

Hallelujah…we had some honest to goodness rain drops fall on the parched valley soil…!!

Was awaken by bright flashes of light and loud claps of thunder around 3:00am…died down around 4:30am…but I got no further sleep.
