Rain

Solid rain this morning and again this afternoon. More is coming on Thursday.

Frickin sunny on the coast dammit. I may end up having to water stuff this weekend.

I was really hoping skip the drive out this weekend to watch the nail-biting Bama game against Middle Tennessee State on the big TV.

I’m bummed all the rain missed us here too. A couple sprinkles and thunder claps but that was it.

Watching the radar it seems like that long line of activity formed just north of us, and then extended all the way up Puget Sound.

Yesterday the forecast for today was a 90% chance of rain. 8:00 pm and not a stinking drop of rain so far! Damn! Double Damn!!

In Richland, we had enough to mess up the truck but that’s about it. Not enough to make the pavement wet. Hopefully more later in the week. The Fire Boss planes flew over this afternoon so there was a fire somewhere.

Camped out near Port Townsend for two nights. Last night it rained hard with lots of thunder. Today it rained buckets with lightning and instantaneous deafening thunder claps for a good portion of the day. Impressive!

A few Humpies were hooked, and some landed in-between the worst of it as well.

7:00 am Wednesday. What a difference a few hours makes! By now 9 consecutive hours of moderately heavy to very heavy rain and it is still woofin' out there. Just in those few hours the yard has greened up significantly from the deathly looking brown it was yesterday. Fall has arrived with a flourish, I'll load a boat and rig a couple of fly rods today and be ready for tomorrow. This much cool rain is going to have the fish thinking fall for sure, two months of good times ahead!

A few light drops yesterday afternoon was all the precip we got here is SE Oly. I'll need to water today.

Yesterday my phone's weather app kept predicting rain; lots of lightning and thunder, we had maybe 10 or 11 drops of rain fall on our lot (until midnight) but we got smoke and it just kept getting thicker. About midnight thunder woke me up; rain this time. I don't know how much rain but enough to fill the street gutters and overflow curb cuts at driveways. Cleaning up some dirt washed out of the flower gardens. That smoke? Still there but visibility is miles now instead of a couple hundred yards. My waterproof canvas tarp I keep stretched over my pram? It isn't waterproof anymore .

Over 12 hours of steady rain by now with temps right at 55 degrees. How sweet it is!

Looks like a bit of rain in some south sound areas this morning.

Rain is not only making the fish and the fisher people happy it is making the grass happy. I can not believe the amount of grass turning green from brown after such a little bit of rain we are getting right now...
