NFR Passing Cars Correctly with Space

Maybe a dumb question, but does the drivers test check your ability to merge?
It's been so long I can't remember. I do remember backing around a corner, which I have yet to do since taking my drivers test 25 years ago. But I don't remember merging. Hmmmmmmm.....
Maybe if merging isn't part of the test, they could swap backing around a corner with merging.
Ya don’t even need to know how to read or be a US Citizen to get a license in some states….some just give ‘em out like candy and register ya to vote too.

I get annoyed when at a red light, perhaps in a right hand turn lane, the car in front of me won’t do a right on red even though there’s no oncoming traffic at all. Then I try to take a breath but still, c‘mon man. If you’ve been driving less than a year I get it. Maybe.

Or in a different state. Right on red isn't everywhere, and might be removed around here.

I have a reverse story of R on R. Pulled up to the local traffic light which everyone does multiple R on Rs per signal.

It had a brand new no R on R sign. As I'm waiting for the light to turn green the truck behind me starts laying on the horn. I roll down the window and deliberately point at the sign. Hope they felt like an ass.

Oh yeah....1 more vote for "everyone needs to zipper merge".

HB 1582 died in committee. And, it stated drivers would be prohibited from turning right when facing a red light within 1,000 feet of an elementary or secondary school, childcare center, public park or playground, recreation center or facility, library, public transit center, hospital, senior center or any other facility with a high level of pedestrian traffic. I don't know what percentage of red lights in the state that covers, but it's probably mostly urban ones. So--not everywhere.

Other states? I don't know. The innerwebz says there is not a single state that outright bans right on red. I did not dig deeper than that. But I suspect R on R bans are local or limited like HB 1582 tried to be.
