College Football 2023

Big 20...
It's like the Big 10, only now with more BIG !!!

New alignment
Pac - 0
Big - 32
If that comes true, the other big conferences will join together. Would laws regarding monopolies apply at sometime?

Big Ten and Purdue guy here so I've been following the noise from that perspective. I don’t get the sense that the Big Ten is pursuing Washington and Oregon. If it was, wouldn’t the wheels be in motion? They’d have them at hello at this point and I don’t think the financial windfall those two would produce would be worth the reduced-share payouts for everybody else. At least that's what I've been reading.

As others have said, it’s all about money and nothing else. While the appeal of morning-to-morning blocks of Big Ten football should be attractive to TV partners, I’m not sure that would put all that much money in peoples’ pockets on Day 1. Especially since USC and UCLA will already account for enough of those 10:30 p.m. Eastern kickoffs. What a mess...

Bob,
If the UW and Oregon go to the Big 10 eventually, they'll likely have to take a reduced payout. It would still be greater than what the proposed PAC 12 deal would offer. The all streaming deal sucks in my opinion. Just not enough exposure. The PAC 12 even approached NBC, ND's bed fellow and got stuffed.

I was also reading that Kevin Warren had promised USC that the BIG 10 wouldn't add Oregon. Whether that is true or not, I'm not sure but it makes sense especially from a recruiting standpoint. Besides UCLA, USC would likely own California for the most part when it comes to Big 10 recruiting.
Having Oregon in the Big 10 would obviously change that. Oregon also has a whale in Phil Knight that cam easily write a check to make up and shortfall they might receive from whatever conference they end up in.
If the PAC 12 does survive, the path to the play-offs will be much easier starting next year.
I think both the PAC 12 and ACC will be gone eventually with three mega conferences and a lot of history will go down the drain.
SF

Thanks Brian what you are saying makes a ton of sense and 100% agree about the lost history going down the drain. I didn't like it when the B1G added Penn State, then Nebraska followed by Rutgers and Maryland... and now the SoCal teams. I just think the whole conference realignment debacle is going to suck for all of us.

Uw regents are having a meeting tonight, executive session.
Meeting is likely to be regarding the go ahead to pursue/ join the Big 10.
Arizona regents also meet tonight, regarding legal advice on a Big 12 move.
Conference could be toast by...

Tuesday.
🤣🤣🤣

I think it may die on a Friday, but burial won't happen until the following Tuesday. ;)

UCLA
USC
Cal
Stanford

OSU
UW
WSU
WTF?
How can this not be a very viable conference?
The west coast gets a lot of shit about running the country with their large influence on all else - just not this 🤔

The UW regents meeting was not previously scheduled, deemed a 'special meeting' in an article I read.
At this point, just a question of which Tuesday, not if it will happen.
So the Coogs natural geographic rival Boise St. will be the team to beat in the new Mountain West.

Ucla and usc are gone...that's a done deal.
Pac 0

Ok, wasn't sure why usc and ucla were in the list.

There's no money and no interest in Pac whatever football...nobody is ponying up with bucks on a media deal. Nobody cares about the conference, at least not enough to pay to broadcast it.
So it's over.

I'll still follow the Coogs.

Pro teams leave cities for greener pastures, College teams leave conferences.

The list is the 1972 version of the league
Or close to it
