Lenice/Nunnally size of fish?

Those are damn nice fish. Did you catch em in Lenice?
No because I prefer lakes where the fish are planted as fry and have at least the potential of an older age class. Unfortunately every year I have more options then time to hit said lakes.

My point is though that they are out there. You made it seem in your initial post they are not.

Well there is your proof in my pictures.

Yeah fish planted as fry definitely rock compared to fish planted at an older age.

Over the years I have observe a strong bias by many fly fishers that if a water is not fly fishing only or at least under some sort of quality or selective gear rules that other waters don't warrant the investment in time to check out or fishing.
Some former fisheries biologist that I invited to hunt with me on some land I leased, once told me about a certain lake a ferry ride or bridge crossing away that held large fish. I tried it out pre selective waters management and hooked a beast of a fish. To this day, I haven’t caught one that size in that lake. But it was also one of two fish I hooked that day. Post transition, I don’t catch monsters, but I feel the balance of size and potential numbers is perfect for me.

I wonder if the guy will ever take me fishing for bulls like he said he would 😁

Lenice was a great fishery. While it is nice that a lot of people still enjoy going there it does not change the fact that back in the day the fish were far superior to what they are now. With BC being just over the border and having much better lake fishing it is very hard to give WDFW a pass on how they manage the lake fishing in washington.

Jeebuz, why do people not understand that it is not solely a management’s issue. Pages of information about exactly why on a scientific level that the fishery is not the same and complete and absolute willful ignorance being shown again. Meanwhile, other lakes in Washington are producing better than they ever have because of smart management.

Hell, I spent 6 days up in Canada on some very productive lakes, and three of my 4 days over in Eastern Washington fishing this year since March 1st produced better than any one of the days in Canada. I’m talking size and numbers.

What’s that saying, “It’s the archer, not the arrow?”

Ha.
Ira fly I see you feel strongly about your position. It is unfortunate you come off as haughty and condescending. I do not appreciate being called ignorant for I am not. Stop being a bully. I have seen you do that many times on this site and other sites.

BC and washington state have a common border. And washington state has a few more million people than BC. I do not hear of or know anyone from BC that comes down to fish our lakes. But I know many of us that go to fish up in BCs lakes. I will maintain my my stance that WDFW should not be given a free pass on their poor lake management here. Same goes with how they manage the crabbing.

Good point. I’ve never met BC guys who come down to fish our lakes either.

You can't compare lakes in Washington with the lakes in BC just because we share a common border. The weather is tons different. Some of their lakes are still frozen at this time. Lenice sits in the middle of a desert for God's sake. It gets 110 degrees out here in the summer, I don't think it does that in Kamloops routinely. Lakes in the TriCities suck for trout fishing, They get better as I go north and as I head up in elevation. Lake fishing around Spokane is so much better than here. I'm sure if I head farther north it gets better due to the better climate, which last I checked is changing over the past several years.

Acid rain, remember when that was the talk. Canada cares more about lakes than Washington state. Martha lake has had a crowd of power bait fisherman again and no fish cops inforcing law. Pisses me off. My neighbor is a retired fish cop, a known heavy hand to those that needed a ticket. One of his fav's was that lake. He said he seen changes 15 years ago coming. Sad, but I will keep folks aware of rules.

C’mon, it’s more fun to reminisce and blame WDFW for atrocious management than to think this through. But combine the information I shared regarding changes in biology of the lake with the geographic issues you laid out (the lake sits at around 500’ above sea level) and maybe there’s more to it?
