NFR Has anyone heard from Old Man Jim? Update: RIP OMJ. Give ‘em hell wherever you are!

I have no problem anywhere but here.and it’s immediate.
Jojo,
Sometimes some link just gets corrupted on your end. It's worth rebooting both your router and your phone - it really does seem to solve 90% of connectivity issues.

I hope OMJ is happy & healthy, and that he comes back - he's always entertaining and frequently helpful

Take care, Jojo!

It’s okay tho. I just wanted to find out about Old Man, sadly, I think I have my answer. I thought this was a community and that folks would care that he left in the first place and more importantly that he may have died. But instead the focus has been on making sure his birthdate (which he has given out before) and full name is posted. I get that worry now, but i don’t get that it’s what you’re most worried about. That is sad too.

I am sorry it's absolutely common sense that you don't post or ask for someone's personal information in a public forum.
No one doubts your concern but there are right ways to go about things.

Again. The privacy stuff has been resolved. And I stopped already asking for any more info like that. Yet some are still posting about that instead of the worry about what had happened to Jim. I’ll figure out another way to confirm what happened to him. I think I have enough information now and the site is still safe . But you know….. to think he might be gone sucks.

1. Life isn't fair.
2. Nobody gets out alive.
3. Get over it.

While I never met @Old Man Jim, he was very generous with advice and directions to small blue lines when I moved to Washington. I'm grateful.

I'm worried about him, too. He has to be about 90 years old now. That's a ripe old age for anyone. If he passed on, I hope that it was peaceful.

Yeah, sorry. Hopefully the guy is OK.

It is sad and a little frustrating when someone leaves because 1) we worry first and 2) then we just want answers. But unfortunately it’s kind of the nature of internet communities like this. I wonder sometimes what happened to Swimmy but assume he just moved on to newer pursuits.

It sounds like in the case of OMJ he let Evan know he was moving on, and that’s his prerogative. It would’ve been great if he’d said goodbye but he didn’t and sometimes that just happens with people, both online and IRL.

And it sounds like Salmo’s going to check in on him in June so maybe he can let us know if it’s something that can be shared.

I’m sure all of us hope Old Man is just spending his time doing something other than staring at a computer.

At his age, you never know though. And hell, you never really know at any age. We have all lost some folks in our lives way too soon. We all know people who encounter serious health/life problems.

With any luck someone will hear from him soon. But regardless, a good time to raise a glass to all of those who are no longer here and spare a thought for all those in our lives who are having a tough time for whatever reason.

Jojo, your compassionate concern is admirable, and hopefully Jim is fine. If his time had come, hopefully it was in peace and with grateful thanks for a long and well traveled journey.

I've been low key worried about Jim, hoping that he'd pop back up again. The world will be a little less if he's gone.

Thank you. I hope so too. If he were over at the old site as he was for a bit i would feel better about it. These forums were huge in his life and a connection. To think that he is not anywhere is disconcerting.

I’ve said this many times. Old Man was the very first person in 2004 to welcome me to the old site. I have many emails with him. I have so many screen shots of his funny posts over the years that I’m sure if i deleted them I would have Cloud space again. He called me ‘Babe’ in a thread once which was pretty hilarious because i think Swimmy posted about wanting to be called Babe! lol. I wonder what happened to Swimmy too.

Both of those guys contributed a lot. I’m trying to research online with what i know. I don’t want to wait until June when salmo_g goes to Montana. I would love to contact Swimmy to see if he has a way to know how to get in touch with him. If anyone …. @Salmo_g if you have Swimmy’s contact could you give him my email? Or maybe you could ask him.
