Posting the full name, birthdate, location and other identifying information of someone else just can't happen, I'm sorry. And no, he's never used his full name here.
Like I said, you can post your own info, but posting the info of others is a liability we can't have as forum owners. Regardless of what the current issue is, he left this site and told us he was leaving. So posting up his info on a site he no longer wants to be a part of shouldn't be happening. We can talk about trying to figure out what's up, but please keep the personal identifying information to private messages.
We've deleted less than a handful of posts in the last probably 6 months or so - this particular thread being one of the only ones and the first in a very long while. We haven't deleted anything from Old Man I think ever.
Anything I mentioned above happened in private messages. They weren't public posts. So when I say "he told us he was leaving this site," it was in part trying to explain why he hasn't been seen here in a few months.

Caring has nothing to do with it. It's about respecting personal privacy and understanding what cyber threats are (as well as liability for this forum). We wouldn't allow that information to be published about anyone.
I understand that in this instance it comes from a place of concern for a friend, and I think everyone can see that. But publicly posting people's personal information on the internet (typically called doxxing when it is done with malice) is not okay. It can, and has, led to harassment, job loss, identity theft, and even death. Not everyone wants to be found under their real name. And even if they didn't mind it at one point, that doesn't mean we should assume that they want their info posted forever. Many of us used to post under our real names on the internet until something happened to make us change our minds. On a personal level, my mother had to deal with harassing threatening phone calls from people trying to find information out about me so they could commit cybercrimes due to my real name being on the internet. It's not a joke or a chicken-little thing. It is something that causes real people real problems.
Please just keep the sharing of that info to DMs. It is better for everyone.

Speaks more to his character, not letting people know what's up that might care about him. I can see with some noob like me, no one would give a shit but as I understand he has had contacts and a history on either forum for 20+ years. I'm sure everyone will eventually figure it out but I wouldn't misplace blame here towards the site owner operators, it's not their doing.

Interesting that I can only log in when I get out of WiFi. When I tried my phone and iPad with WiFi it just hung out without connecting. The second I log off I’m back on.
Ok. Excuse me for caring about one of the most prolific members on either forum. I do believe and fear that he has died and I’m sad about that . (And if he didn’t die and finds out about me asking he will love it.)

We give up I guess. We show concern for his personal privacy and information/safety and get push back. - We suggested keeping the personal info in PMs to those who are doing the heavy sleuthing. The general public doesn't need that info. We would do the same for any of our members as privacy/internet safety is one of the things this forum was founded on.

Is my Wifi being blocked? I just posted above without WiFi cause my iPad and phone would not let me with Wifi.
i left the site open went back and turned off Wifi and just like that i could get back in. Put Wifi back on can’t do anything or open and click through the site even though it was still on the site. I’m posting without WiFi right now. How does this happen?

I literally have no idea what's going on with your connection - your wifi maybe? If you were blocked, you wouldn't be able to post here at all. We haven't blocked anyone since like the first two months the forum was started.

Well I don't have some magic internet powers other than banning, and here's the complete list of banned users. Whatever is happening on your end I have no clue on and wouldn't know how to diagnose it other than maybe suggesting rebooting your modem.

It’s okay tho. I just wanted to find out about Old Man, sadly, I think I have my answer. I thought this was a community and that folks would care that he left in the first place and more importantly that he may have died. But instead the focus has been on making sure his birthdate (which he has given out before) and full name is posted. I get that worry now, but i don’t get that it’s what you’re most worried about. That is sad too.

What's the difference between "banned" and "deleted"?
There's been like 2-3 users that asked to have their accounts removed entirely. That's a "deleted" member.
That said, let's not let this thread derail anymore than it has. Back on topic.
