Not sure this really qualifies as a trip report, but....

...I did wet a line for a out 20 min. I packed my Commander and headed down to a local ditch knowing the odds were quite low. The trib was running higher than the Deschutes & the mainstem was 10x of that. That said, color wasn't quite as chocolatey as I would have expected. I've caught smallies in far dirtier water but never in water this cold. I didn't bother launching but worked my bait fish pattern around the margins slowly and some boulders that are normally dry. It was nice to visually see what conditions were like at these flows....very fishable. Just need it to warm up some....

And 'ya just don't know if you don't go. Good on you for getting out.
I probably shoulda just launched since there was plenty of soft water to not get washed to the Pacific....oh well, that was more work than I was willing to put in....

At least now you know that's it's safely doable. I bet if anyone could find a willing player this time of year it's you, and something else just might show. It does look a bit dirty. The first river I went by yesterday looked like that, so I headed for the lakes. Later I got to fish a river for an hour or so that wasn't so high and colored up.

OMJ would’ve called it a Useless Fishing Report. :ROFLMAO:
Even though it is actually useful.
To about 3 people.
3? That may a little too generous....

Nice report.
I’ve kind of become a fan of dirty water myself in the recent years.
