Your Single Fly

For stillwater it's one of two choices for me. My usual is also a black leech, with a red or orange bead head. Alternatively, I use a Six-pack. Black and olive are colors that just seem to work most often.
100%. If I'm only allowed to use 1 fly year round on any lake it's the black leech with a hot bead.

Olive six-pack is a close 2nd for me and great when the caddis are hatching.

If Chironomids are hatching then put me down for a #14 ASB style with white bead...it always seems to work.

stillwater trout? or stillwater anything?

I know you meant trout....so for me it'd be tough to go against an olive leech pattern. or black. flip a coin.
