My Dad was a knife guy, he always had a pocket knife on him, he kept everything sharp including Mom's kitchen knifes. Guess it was instinctive as he was a machinist and sharp cutters, bits & drills work better.
I still carry his old hunting knife during deer/elk season. It's a Western Company 5" belt knife he picked up in Denver on his way from Missouri while heading to Seattle in the 1940s.
