If people would stop whining about government and start running for office, maybe there wouldn't be so much to whine about. There are so many open positions, and unopposed candidates that there's a good chance you could get elected and actually do something about any issue you desire - even gas taxes. Of course this takes a lot of time and effort, and you'll be on the receiving end of a lot of hateful comments both during and after your campaign - but you could still do something. Even if you lose, you'll likely have an effect on the issue that you care about.

If running for office is too scary, apply to serve on an advisory committee. You won't have as much power, but you could still make a positive impact.

Whining on social media definitely doesn't solve anything. It doesn't even change people's minds.

It's like an alternate universe or reality. People are being crushed by fuel prices and inflation and this is what they are focused on. Talk about out of touch elitist bullshit cloaked in caring and feels.

I'm trying to become a page so I can deliver the poison hemlock to Inslee in his Starbucks personally. It's all the time I can afford with Mr real job and all staying one step ahead of the monarchy in Olympia. I'm "becoming the change I want to see."

All politics is local, so volunteer in your community to help effect the betterment of your fellow citizens lives and your community if you don't want to run for office.

There are no communities that are not lacking in motivated volunteers, use your skills to help...

surfnfish essentially summarized the findings of the only two actual studies in your magic "5" study article from newsmax - but now you say those findings are erroneous. you really should have read those studies before posting them mike. how can people rely on your thousands of editorial contributions to wikipedia if you don't make a habit of checking your sources?

Where are these people being “crushed”? I’m likely someone who would be affected more than most, I’m on a poverty level fixed income. I’m far from being crushed. I merely adapt. I changed up my television and internet services saving well over a hundred bucks a month. Less driving. My grocery shopping is done looking for cheaper brands, sale items and an adjusted menu to eliminate those things most affected by inflation. I’m careful with what little money I have. My two adult sons who are both raising families, while complaining, seem to be doing ok with both going on several multi-day hunting trips. I had dinner with the one that has three children the other day and the table was full of food. While visiting notice each child had a connected tv and computer in their rooms. They didn’t appear to be crushed. Both of my neighbors are working and I see new cars and toys appeared this summer so I assume they aren’t being crushed. I don’t see that many folks if any that are crushed.

Any industry requiring fuel. I live in a logging area. I can tell you first hand trucking and transport are being crushed. Everyone knows that an increase in fuel is an increase on every product you buy that rides in a vehicle train or plane. Food and fuel are a big deal. It's wonderful you don't need to use fuel. Myself and others need it to get our jobs done.

It's easier to fix the blame than the problem.

I just skimmed it and will read it end to end later. My caution is that DOE isn't necessarily a "reliable" source. DOE director is appointed by the governor, so the studies commissioned by DOE may be slanted and need to be read and assessed carefully.
