Seriously, would you want to be a public school teacher?
1. Have your life threatened by right-wing extremists
2. Have your life threatened by gang-related violence
3. Constantly under duress by litigious parents who don't even know their kids!
4. BOSSED, not lead, by out of touch administrators who shovel their new and wonderful plans on to teachers who are already overburdened with ever-growing amounts of paperwork and bureaucratic nonsense
5. Listen to both sides of the political isle demanding accountability and higher standards while showing no signs of protecting teachers from tortious and criminal harm!
6. Being paid less than half of what your corporate counterpart receives after completing the same amount of education and experience.
7. Constantly at odds with the Administration because of the "Administration Management Team" philosophy!

If a teacher truly wants to reach a troubled kid or reluctant learner the teacher MUST HAVE TIME TO BUILD A RELATIONSHIP WITH THAT KID IN A SAFE, SECURE, AND SUPPORTIVE, ENVIRONMENT!!!!

The first of the past two years was pretty good; the more recent year, not so much. Since I'm retired and not in particularly high demand in the labor market, my options for increasing my annual income are limited. So inflation is a big concern. I think I can handle some inflation, but if inflation is high and sustained for more than a very few years, then I'll be making some adjustments, potentially severe adjustments to my normally careless lifestyle. Inflation is no one's friend, other than government debt service.

Since my ability to actually work was taken away due to health issues I was forced to abandon most traditional retirement activities. I simply adapted. My time is spent doing activities that don’t cost money. Most are things I can do at or near my home. Food costs are my main concern. What has been interesting to me so far is it seems the increases in food has been mostly in the meat and dairy isles which has forced me to purchase more fresh fruit and vegetables and be more creative when it comes to meat based protein. I’m actually eating healthier due to these higher costs.

For whatever reason, there are two things that have been impervious to inflation:
#1: Two Tacos at Jack In the Box

Both of these have been the same price since I was in high school 23 years ago. I don't know how they do it, but the price just doesn't go up on these wonders of the world. So in theory, you could get a full two taco meal plus refreshing beverage for only $2.
Heck, you could splurge and get 4 tacos plus the iced tea and still be at only $3 per meal. Try finding a 1500 calorie meal for that cheap anywhere else. I bet you can't.

This is how you beat inflation and the gas tax. Eat tacos and drink Iced Tea.

My HS drivers ED teacher (who I think was high most of the time) had us young drivers take him to Jack n the Box every day as part of the lesson to get him tacos. :LOL:

Compared to the rest of the world we are in the pink. With all the complaining going on about inflation in this country I wonder how a person in a red country is handling their situation which is far worse than ours?

Interesting Map followed by some interesting countries with much higher and some lower rates of inflation.

Two things; I don’t eat fast food, period, I don’t drink pre-made canned tea. My tea is usually sun brewed with fresh lemon and sweetened with local honey. Call me a tea snob if you must.

Yes but the subject of fuel costs going up is pretty tied to fishing for a lot of us...it can be a slippery slope and that slope gets steeper when the discussion turns into political mud slinging and not remotely tied to fishing.
