With Our Already High Fuel Prices This Is Really Going To Hit The Pocketbook

The bit I don’t get is that with fracking the US became self reliant on oil and gas supply. If so then why are we beholden to OPEC? This is the sort of q we should be asking all of our politicians.

Dave
We are not beholden to OPEC. The businesses that prospect for, produce, refine, and distribute oil products can sell them on the open, global market. When the price goes up in South America or Africa, they can sell it here or there. The prices they will pay over there influence the price here. The whole thing with OPEC reducing their production was built up by the media to a ridiculous extent when OPEC was producing less than the new targets anyway. So there was no change in production. The spike in prices we saw were nothing but price gouging based on the news.

If the direction was to put me out of business in 10 years I'm pretty sure that I would feel the same.
If you had the economic power of the oil industry and you went out of business, it would be because you wanted to. They can use that power to transition to the energy business of the future, and I believe they will. Screaming like a baby all the way, and making lots of money.

We need cheap gasoline until we have the infrastructure to supply all the needed electricity for everyone to be charging their cars all the time. Then we need the capability of electric cats to very greatly increase and the cost to come way down
. Until that occurs America cannot thrive without inexpensive gasoline it is that aimple.

Disagree for sure. If a few cents increase is the end of the world then they will be working the rest of their life until they die. They never could retire. Shows that a person invested, gave up on some expenditures while working, to have a better life with fewer worries so they can live life. Smart not elitist.
Disagree, for sure. The world has changed for those of us younger than retirement age. Ask anyone who was banking on a 401k to help them retire in the next five to ten.

We will be working until we die, regardless. Most of us millennials came to peace with that years ago.

Any B.S. excuse to raise taxes for some B.S. government program that does nothing and feeds dollars into politicos pockets.

Stanard operating procedure.

Keep voting for the same and continue with the same results. I think that is a rough definition of insanity.

My electric car does not escape taxes. I noted on my car tags reciept, a charge for electric cars. It does not incur any gas taxes but does not get a free ride.

I cannot look at this thread it hurts too much. Can we lock it please?

All 3 of the coastal lower 48 steelhead states are so out of touch with this agenda’s practical timeline.

As a business owner. We have several schedules for marking up the products we sell. Some small bits that we are able to buy right, we double the price we bought it for, and that's our sell it for.
Some big ticket items we sell, we only make a 20% gross margin.
Everything else falls in between those extremes. As the price we pay for materials goes up, so does our retail price. This leads to a situation where our gross profits look great, but due to a rise in inflation our costs go up. "Keeping the lights on."
A business owner has to due their best to maintain their margins when costs are high just to stay in business. When we have product on the shelf we bought at an inflated price, we try to keep the price up to make our intended margin in tack until we sell the bulk of it. Then if we buy the same at a lesser price, we may pass the decrease on to our customers, or it may go into a different schedule, and we will maintain the retail price.
With volume discounts, seasonal special, sales,..... it's easy to lose money when you're in business. It's hard to maintain margins and keep up on profits.
Those who bitch about "Big Oil" profits just can't seem to get their arms around the idea that if I buy something at a quantity for a price, I need to sell the same at a price plus a margin to stay in business.
I'm fortunate not to have to answer to shareholders that consistently want a profit, but as a shareholder in other businesses, I expect a profit.
