Whether you believe there is a left leaning bias on WP or not, this particular WP list lays out the communities’ position on the reliability of an entire locus of sources. Not many, if any, conservative sources make the cut, while CNN, MSNBC and many other clearly liberal leaning sources are considered reliable. What conclusion do you draw from that?

Reality has a well-known left wing bias?

I have a Jackalope shoulder mount, kinda feel bad about it since they are now long gone, but am comforted knowing the elephants foot trash can under my fly tying bench (where the polar bear, heron, and other endagered species parts can be collected so they don't clog the vaccuum) are still around.
:)

My uncle was a religious man. A preacher of sorts. He would handle snakes, speak in strange biblical languages long forgotten like Arameic. At least that is what he said it was. When he would drink he would make exotic claims and most fun of all heal appliances. He would lay hands on a vacuum cleaner and demand the foul spirits that clogged it be gone. Us kids would laugh but to our surprise the Hoover would spring to life and our faith renewed. I had a complex childhood not knowing which folks were role models or not. I mean he never got bit and the vacuums worked after his rituals. The washing machine, now that was a real battle of man versus demons as the Maytag and it's mortal soul lay in the void. He was never the same after that. Exorcising demons be it from man or machine takes its toll on the priest. Most people don't know that.

luckily there are alternative facts for those who prefer to do their own research.

You talk like someone who has never come across some tidbit of information on the internet that all the world's top minds missed and solved a great riddle. Get you some duck duck go and you can. The truth is out there ........

Nothing is more important to environmental preservation in America is a thriving economy. At the moment cheap gas is vital to a thriving economy.
The last thing we need is people poaching all our wildlife in order to survive and burning all our trees to stay warm..
We need cheap gas until EVs and the infrastructure are an actual solution.
Hurricanes, droughts, freak freezes, and wildfires have a huge effect on the economy. Imagine a world where we addressed the Climate Change crisis and the previous disasters prevented?

I don't disagree with your "Easter Island" prediction but can only hope minds can be changed before it becomes reality.

Fascinating! Although CNN and MSNBC are left leaning, they are generally considered reliable for facts. Whereas Fox News and Newsmax are flat out considered unreliable for facts, and Newsmax does "propaganda laundering." Maybe WP is providing me confirmation bias, but my experience with CNN and MSNBC is that they are left leaning, but I haven't found them trying to "make up" facts. Their "opinion pieces" aren't just left leaning; I think they are flat out leftest. Then there's guys like Carlson and others on Fox who just make up stupid shit. Small wonder they aren't considered reliable and shouldn't be cited as sources. Thanks for that link!

Is somebody actually trying to claim Newsmax is anything other than a cesspool of bullsh!t ?

(My ignore list is pretty extensive, so I miss a lot of the most egregiously stoopid stuff)

If someone is claiming Newsmax as a reliable source, they should seek mental health counseling and get a cognitive assessment as well.

Surely your past career as a teacher gave you many effective tools to deal with unruly students like myself as only I can hope my current career prepares me for the coming days ahead.

I've often thought a card system publicly for members of the forum would be good. You are on white card if you are behaving. Then comes the pink card. A mere warning. Then the red card, a true demerit. After that is the purple card, then the brown, and finally the black card. When a conference is in order and a members posting is restricted if not revoked. I find a public social credit system works well in a school setting and in settings beyond. China does it. We could be more like China. That shining bastion of prosperity to the east. You'll never find a cleaner main Street. We could clean up the forum. One card at a time.
Unfortunately the clean street you talk about can't be seen through the air pollution. Your card system sounds good in some respects as it would bring back some of the most environmentally outspoken former members.

I'm guessing you think CNN is a reliable source... Wait didn't they have a show called reliable sources???

i DO believe there's a left-leaning bias. looks like in addition to not reading the studies or the newsmax article, you also didn't really read my post. the only real studies in your link confirm that there's a left leaning bias in the community-produced content overall because the way the process works - did you read them?

and if you believe the studies - the real ones you supposedly were referencing - that can only mean that moderate right-leaning people exit the process earlier and contribute less overall than moderate left leaning folks. it's your claim, you cited it.

the thing is - it feels like you're saying wikipedia itself is run by leftys and that's where the bias in content comes from. could be true. but again, the study you planted your flag on is from harvard - objective 3rd party academics, right? - and you believe it, right? cause you quoted it for authority. and that study says the bias comes from the community and the nature of the process.

you offered the newsmax link - i would normally assume that means you see them as "reliable" and think they should be in the list of sources from wikipedia. but now i don't know what to think. you're way too articulate to be the kind of sucker that newsmax wrote that content for. now i'm leaning more toward the theory that you posted it as spam to drive traffic to your anti-wikipedia blog.

CNN is left leaning.. MSNBC is flat out leftist propaganda and is the left wing equivalent to Newsmax..
The reason Fox is considered unreliable is because all the people defining what reliable and unreliable are are leftists.

Fox, by their own admission under oath in a court of law, runs shows hosted by people that they themselves say no reasonable person would believe what they have to say is true.
:)

But, a lot of poorly educated viewers tune in, and watch them...so as a business they've plumbed the dregs and made a buck doing so.

Congrats ?

On a side note, birds arn't real and neither is Katty Perry..

Looks to me like Mike is doing his part to balance Wikipedia. I read his (interesting, for real!) wiki editor's profile and he's made like 30,000 edits to wiki articles! And here I am still short of 1,000 posts and I spend a fair amount on this site.

The problem with throwing out factually inaccurate "facts" to support your position, is that anyone with a few minutes of research can figure out that there is no point in listening to you. You may have something of value to contribute, but tell me why I should listen? It seems you are just making this stuff up, but maybe you have been misled by another source. Cite the source maybe?

"all the people defining what reliable and unreliable are are leftists." It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it. Nobody else seems to care.
