Winter midge surface action!

All I got today was cold and skunked! Bugs hatching, fish eating them but no decent sight casting opportunities….oh well. HRQ 6 is a delight to cast!

Speaking of Crown...my grandfather was an avid sportsman from the Tri-Cities, from whom I eventually developed my love of fly fishing and tying. He would store his reels in the soft Crown Royal bags, a habit I inherited and practice to this day

Cold, mostly calm and partly sunny today on the lake…..1/7 on midge emergers. Doesn’t sound like much but three on, one in the net and seven hits on top….fine by me!

1/1 today……still fish rising….still bugs hatching……just not close enough targets. But it’s still fishing!!

0/1 today on a different lake. Warmest sunny day on the water so far…..I did get a nice 14” rainbow on a black leech to save the skunking….maybe I should’ve dipped it in floatant!
