Went to a work gathering at a park upstream from us today. Naturally I had to check out some of my old fishing haunts. I did not expect to see any salmon given how low the water was but was pleasantly surprised to see a few dark chinook milling around a shallow pool. Wild or wild spawned since no hatchery plants on this river in over a decade.

Also checked out a backwater looking for fry. It was loaded with small fish. Unfortunately, not salmonids. Can't tell if juvenile pikeminnow, peamouth chub, or some other cyprinid. I did see a few fry in a spot with more flow that looked like coho.

Anyway it was good to see a spot I haven't been back to in 40+ years.
