Why so many nymphs with black beads?

I tend to go for the dark beads in Stillwater indicator situations. Just sitting there under a float in lake, it seems like fish can check their hair and teeth in a shiny bead, although they work, too.

Mostly, I want to hear about Chinook on a little nymph.
I get them from time to time on the Trinity River down here in CA on a #12 red copper john, of all things

looks like a mostly black head to me.
Yes, I'm a weirdo and just randomly have dead bugs in my truck while I drive around

But mainly due to style and catching the fisherman's fashion sense. I have black, gold, brass, and probably some rainbows. I grab for black most often
But rarely fish any of them, opt for the floating type of flies.

I tie my flies with both black and gold beads. Sometimes it makes a difference. During one trip to East Lake in Oregon, a Gold Ribbed Hares Ear pattern with a black bead head was the hot fly. No bead or a gold bead didn't work worth a hoot but one with a black bead did. This may be because East has huge callibaetis hatches and a GRHE is a good representation for the nymphs, especially with a dark head.
I see no reason to be dedicated to one color over another when either one could end up the most desirable. Fish are fickle so I allow for that fact.
