Life of the Party
That some of us are compelled to share what's going on in life?

I wonder this while sitting at gate 5 at Colorado Springs Airport. Beautiful blue skies and windows facing Pikes Peak.
I am headed to Cape Coral Florida to do a new store set for Sportsmans Warehouse.
With out house not selling I took a part time job at the Pueblo store to keep from spending all our savings while we wait.
Less than a week after starting they sent me on the new Colorado Springs store set. Apparently I impressed the guy from corporate and was asked to go on this one as well, then maybe one more next month to Fredericksburg Virginia.

Anyway yesterday I was on the Taylor fishing a western green drake hatch near the highest points in the country, today I'm headed to the gulf coast of Florida about as low as you can get and wondering what the future holds.

Sounds exciting
Good luck

Sorry the sale on your house fell thru Rob.
That phrase when one door closes another one opens is coming to mind. Sounds like you've got a good thing going at Sportsmans.

I think sometimes people share because they like to relate and connect with folks. Makes you feel less alone I guess.

As Forrest Gump said, "Stuff Happens". I have observed that nature is randomly perverse, both good and bad.

Sounds like a good opportunity in the meantime. Did you do any fishing?

Rob, I've been reading (and occasionally arguing with) your posts long enough (20+ years) now, that you don't feel like a stranger. Even though we've never met. At least that I know. There's a decent chance I low-holed you decades ago on the Shoog. If I did sorry, that was before I even knew it was a thing.

I can't point fingers when it comes to over sharing. I blame a major life changing event which drastically altered my perspectives on what's important, and what's not. Looking back on my "previous life" it seems like I was walking through it asleep. That, or side-tracked by meaningless crap. So it frustrates me when I see others doing the same. These silly fly fishing forums have helped, a little, to fill the gaps left by those I've lost. Actually more than a little. Thankfully I've made some great friends as a result. Both the 3D kind and virtual. People I'm sure would've been friends with if we'd met outside the Matrix. Of course the chances of that having happened being virtually nil.

It sounds corny to say this is a community, but it's true. Having so many like-minded people to "share" with, instantly, is really a miracle. Staying completely on topic is missing out on connecting with people who have much in common. With so much negative shit (so I hear) on other social media that I avoid like the plague, this place is a is a welcome refuge. So share away Rob. Sounds like you may have finally found your groove. You've earned it.

BTW, wish you could go through the fly and gear fishing depts of our local Sportman's. I mostly order stuff on line from regional shops, but sometimes need stuff on short order. Last year I was prepping manically for tuna, and realized I was out of fly line dressing. Shot over to SW but they didn't have any. They had enough dry fly floatant to raise the Titanic, but good luck casting smoothly. Was also pissed they didn't stock fluoro in the weights I needed for tuna. On that note, what a shitty jig selection, and no tuna live bait hooks if IIRC. I don't dislike SW, but with possible exception of salmon/steelhead gear, it seems to me their stock is more or less based on a national model. Great for bass, walleye, and trout. Maybe behind the local curve with tuna and saltwater fly fishing.

I can tell you that all the talk is that the problems you mention are high on the list of priorities with new leadership. Hopefully soon they'll be resolved.

Completely agree with you on this place being a community.

I don't know the answer to your question Rob, but human interest stories are almost always, well, interesting. That includes yours. Hope your house sells soon so you can get on with your plans. Enjoy the change of scenery in the meantime.
