Fecal transplants are a real thing. After a course of antibiotics clears out the guts micro biome , sometimes that opens up the body to some nasty bacteria. Fecal transplants fill up the space with helpful bacteria which crowd out the nasty bacteria.

Now which are the bacteria needing pushed out?
