Recently picked up a used F150.
Anyone have experience with folding tonneau covers and PNW rain? I have a soft one (Gator SFX) that I use for my Ranger if the canopy is off and it's been a good purchase. Stays quite dry and can be completely removed in a couple minutes. But I also know that it's 0% secure. Not that I leave anything in there, but I would be annoyed if someone decided to poke a knife through and see. You also can't access the full bed without removing it completely. That's not a huge deal, as it goes off/on quickly. But the hard tri-fold ones often have the ability to fold up against the back window to give full bed access.
Still, the hard tri-fold ones like the popular Bakflip MX4 are also more than three times the price of the gator sfx or similar. And I've read a surprising number of reports about them leaking. The soft covers do go over the bed rails, which would be a hassle if one wanted to set up a bed rail rack. But that's not something I see myself doing in the near future, if ever. And I'm not all that sure how much more secure the hard ones are. Seems like a little pry bar would get in pretty easily or maybe just a coat hanger to hook the release. But at least that's more work than a pocket knife.
