Anyone get any interesting fishing related toys for Christmas (or whichever winter holiday you celebrate)?

I received a very nice Mustang auto inflate pfd which is going to be much less sweaty to wear fishing bass this summer than my foam pfd.

Anyone else have cool surprises under the tree?

I always buy the stuff I need, so I told my wife I was good fishing wise. So, she looked up best gifts for fly fisherman and I ended up with 100+ dollar hatch clippers. My first question was; what, you did not see any reels you thought I might like!?
Something I would never buy but I’ll use now that I have them. Until I fixed my chipped tooth a year ago, I never used used clippers. For the last year, I’ve used $2.99 pharmacy clippers. She also got me another sun hoody. Can never have enough of those.

We also did a secret Santa at work. The guy that pulled me bought me a Simms Taco bag. Another thing I would never buy myself. Garbage bags work well enough for travel. I’ll use it now that I have that as well though.

Got a simms sun hoodie and NRS Chinook OS fishing lifejacket from my wife. My son got me rep your water trout socks and my daughter got me fly tying storage containers…..I also got the gift I didnt want….Covid.… which is messing up my fishing plans

Got my favorite gift I always ask for and never get! NOTHING :D

Seriously though, nothing makes me more uncomfortable than receiving gifts. My wife's family has finally after all these years realized when I say "Don't get me anything," I'm not saying "you don't have to get me anything." What I'm saying is that is the best possible thing you can get me. So Christmas was good to me this year.

Edit:: Except the little box knife @Josh sent me as a solstice offering. Almost wore that thing out the past few days

I received two gifts that you could say were for fishing. Both of them are hats. My daughter knit a stocking cap for me with brown trout colors, super neat. That's the one I'll be wearing on Opening Day here in the Driftless Area, January 7.

The second one I got is one I got for myself, for the summers. Made of the same palm fibers that panama hats are made from, but a wide (4 1/2") brim.

I don't mind getting gifts. I mostly just hate the expectation to give/get and the resulting "useless crap" explosion that seems to happen. If it were up to me, adult to adult gifts would mostly be consumables. Food, drink, maybe books, etc (thinking about it, I suppose flies would fit as well for many of us). Leave the useless silly stuff for the "santa" age little kids.

At this point in my life, I either have most of the junk I need or the things I want are very specific and nobody in my family is likely to know what they are. Hence why I rarely get anything fishing related. But my mom really likes to get us something "useful" that we wouldn't buy for ourselves, thus the pfd this year. And I'm grateful for it. It's something I've wanted but was having a hard time justifying because my foam pfd works just fine.

Kind of fishing related. On a whim I saw an add for the Groove belt and found on Thanksgiving day they were buy one get one free! Expensive but a great deal.. they claimed to be the best belt ever.. Yada Yada yada..

Got them a week or so later and they really are good!! Looks like just a regular web belt but part of it stretches a little and once it's adjusted it's easy to clip / unclip.. adjusting took a little time and they're wider than I usually like, but they are really nice!!

So those and some new winter socks from Big 5 are my new things. I always seem to misplace my socks anyway or the dryer sacrifices one them regularly! On sale for $8.99! Will go back for more!

That and a new Samsung Ultralight Laptop were some of my gifts to myself.. there's more, but it's cooking related!!

It's funny how as an adult, good, quality socks suddenly becomes the top of the list of awesome gifts to get :ROFLMAO:

I'd actually have a hard time being mad if someone in the family got me a bunch of Smartwool socks (my personal favorites)... Though my sock drawer is already hitting overflow status.

Everyone pretty much knows not to buy me fishing related stuff because as Josh said anything I actually want is so specific that they wouldn't know where to begin. And I'm not big on just giving someone a super specific list of things I "want".

My wife is one who tends to put a lot of thought into the gifts she gets me and I always enjoy that. Even if it's something I wouldn't ever buy myself, I'm often surprised how much I end up enjoying her gifts. For instance one little gift she bought me this year was an electric shaved ice maker and a bunch of sugar free syrups. Never in a million years would I buy something like that but I friggen love it. I have always been big on such things and having the option to make a sugar free treat like that at home is super cool to me.

One thing she did get me that's semi fishing related is a super cool pair of gloves. They're like a form fitting neoprene like material that are designed to allow gloved hands to work on a touch screen. Perfect since my sonar/plotter on my boat is touch screen and it's a pain to take my glove off to use it while running around in the bitter cold.

Well, here goes…

My wife surprised me for Christmas and got me something that I’ve been dreaming about for a long time - a fly fishing lodge in New Zealand.

Here’s a little bit about the place:

Well, in case you thought she bought me the lodge, what she actually got me was an appointment with the Doctor for a sleep study. She claims that I‘m having a lot of vivid dreams lately, and she’s afraid that I might act on them.

P. S. The doctor says I need to see a dentist to have some type of dental insert made that will help me breath and sleep better at night.

MERRY CHRISTMAS. HUMBUG! 😊

To paraphrase Charlie Brown at Halloween, "I got socks".

Ammended: Actually I'm remiss. Like others here i pretty much have what i want. But, warm socks and a warm shirt are always appreciated. And, that's what I got this Yule .

Got some Free Fly apparel....Long sleeve T and a mid-weight hoodie in XXL, because their sizing sucks evidently

Simms cutbank sun hat (not sure I'll keep it, the brim seems a tad flimsy.) Like the feel of the hat tho.

Two Wingo trout themed reel case covers .... Rainbow and Brown trout themed.

Unfortunately i didnt get any socks 😕 but I did get a pair of Nano-puff North Face slippers which are aewsome.
