Where is it?

Not fishing, but found this hidden in plain site while out for a walk.

This was the best camouflaged sculpin I’ve ever seen. A solid 3” long and plump, it had developed the same beautiful blue/gray coloration of the rocks that made up the riverbed… rendering it nearly invisible. Prettiest sculpin I think I’ve ever seen.

Yep, the eyes are the giveaway.

Although I don’t regularly go looking for them, I’d never seen one with quite the same colors as this guy before. The bluish gray matched the rocks perfectly.

The water was super clear, so it's easy to be deceived.

It's actually in the water, about 3" deep.

You have to be that cryptic to survive the sharp eyes of great blue herons, mergansers, and large trout.
