When kayak motors strike back…

I dig the Tough Guy look on his face when he puts "the motor on full." Badass!

Guy was lucky (and stupid). That being said, the only thing missing is: "Hold my beer and watch this!"

A little minn kota pushes me as fast as I'd want to go in a kayak. Especially turning.
Agreed. I have a canoe I designed and built with the idea that I would be side-mounting a motor on it at times. 62 lbs is plenty of thrust but largely wasted, so I’ve got a 36 lb motor on it that will sip power and shove it along at about 3 mph all day long. The 2 hp gas motor I put on it turned it into a (8 mph) rocket that nosed up and couldn’t steer, as this joker found out when they put the equivalent of 3 hp electric on theirs.

Best thing in the video:

It was all my fault and I was wearing a PFD.

Knew a guy in Hawaii that took an old Cobra Triple kayak and added a Tohatsu 2.5 hp to it, as well as outriggers and a few other things. Apparently used it for personal inter island travel.

I've said this before.. Many first responders will agree with this... For some reason, when humans are near H20 their IQ level dramatically decreases. This happen in rivers, lakes, beaches, swimming pools etc...even frozen H20 has this effect as in snow and ice. This video is a perfect example of this affliction. Away from the H20, he clearly was aware of his obvious bad judgement.
