So with the Spring Fling getting underway I came up a day early and mowed the yard. So this afternoon when Scotty arrived and started unloading his stuff, he found this. The hole is about the size of a half dollar and no I wasn’t gonna poke my finger in there to see what it is. What’s interesting is the neat little ring of grass clippings around it. We can’t guess if it’s an insect, a mammal, bird or whatever.

I know somebody out there knows what it is… please tell us all about it.

Dump some gass in there and light a match, you'll soon learn what it is 😆

If it was a bit smaller, I say a Cicada burrow/hole. They generally make a very tidy hole with no dirt pile.

upon closer inspection, I do see some silk webbing, so probably some sort of spider....a relatively large one too. Perhaps one of the wolf spiders, but I don't know if they make burrows like that or just utilize burrows already created (they're pretty active hunters)
