Smaller sz 14 versions of a hares ear softhackle with 3.3 mm bead and 10 turns .015 leadfree wire. No whitefish rules but I did note the small mouth.

Not in my vise yet, but I just got some new hooks so I thought I’d share a comparison. Hooks are Firehole Sticks 811 and 860. Really interesting hook bend on both and quite sharp. The hook gape is huge! It’s sometimes tough to know what size to get so hopefully this comparison is helpful for someone.

Classic Sofa Pillow- I like old school flies

Brown Owl - Interesting east coast version of a stonefly/salmonfly adult. Supposed to be fished damp or low in the film then wet, dressed sparse, can also double as a streamer. I think it looks legit. Would be interesting to try it out west durring the salmonfly hatch when everyone is throwing big foam rubberlegged things.

Tied some Steelhead flies. Fished them on the Hoh for the last 2 days. They didn't work...well I caught 2 trout and a whitefish, but they didn't work for the intended target.

You, know, there are a lot of new, high zoot long floating foam stonefly dry patterns out there these days but I always caught the most trout with a stonefly dry pattern when that pattern was a Sofa Pillow. Just because anglers stop using a specific fly pattern does not mean it stopped working.
