What's in your vise?

Im pretty sure 90% of the flys that are tied in this section are intended to be fished?
I think some people are just having a hard time understanding that not everyone fishes the same way, for the same fish, or has the same tying preferences as they do. I can catch lots of fish on a “guide fly” bugger but sometimes it’s fun to spend way too long tying a dope articulated streamer. I’ll still go throw it at the same log jam as the bugger and if I lose it i lose it.

Well heck. I think its time for me to get back on the vise.

Found it here Instead of a wing, I wrapped the tippet to give it a more leggy appearance. Since I’ve caught bluegill and pumpkinseeds on a bare hook, anything more than thread could be considered extravagant.

hook - WFC Model 6 #8
thread - Uni 8/0 black
tail - golden pheasant tippet
rib - Orvis saltwater thread fluoro orange (doubled)
abdomen - yarn olive
thorax - dubbing fluoro orange
1st shoulder - golden pheasant tippet
2nd shoulder - hen black

Scott

I just use my cell phone camera on portrait mode, step back a bit, and zoom in.

I then pull up the pic and take a screenshot of my phone screen to get a smaller file size and lower resolution for the forum. If I posted 50MB RAW files I'm sure @Evan Burck would love me 😂😂
Not to drift, but wtf, your phone takes a 50mb raw file?! JFC.

Ok, last two chum fry patterns for a bit. I’ve gotten myself off to a decent start filling the boxes for the fun to come this spring. I am getting bored though so will move on to some other necessities for a bit. That said, I do love how many different, very simple variations of the same baitfish you can tie that will work. Keeps the fishing and the tying fresh.

9 slightly different chum patterns so far. This is a 10th which the one I tied for the March Madness swap but I jumped the gun and put the ones I tied for myself in my fly box already….just in case ;).
