2nd shoulder - pheasant rump dyed neon olive (1 Tbs Rit Neon Yellow/1 cup water)

I don't know what river this is (not asking) but the photograph reminds me of a story where one angler would climb up on a rock bluff and call out locations of holding fish. Love the fly!

It’s the North Umpqua, I am sure missing it this summer/fall. Hopefully it opens for winter steelhead

I’m getting pretty inspired by all of the magnificent fish in the Puget thread — and think I might head to the big Island, visit our Canadian friends.

It seems like the Haig-Brown tradition is trouty, like a no. 8 rolled mudler is the old time bc coho pattern, where Sound traditions are much brighter.

I have 3 sons who are flying across the country to camp and fish the Smoky Mountains in October. I can't make the trip but I am going along in the form of a box of bugs I tied for them to use. I had to research the flyshops out there to see what they use. They fish quite a few terrestrials there.

Here’s the original if you’re interested. Since I don’t tie one pattern in the hundreds of dozens like Walter, and I’m cheap, I just used scissors to shape the body.

hook - WFC Model 21 #10
thread - SemperFli Nanosilk 50d orange
underbody - Starburst dubbing tan
body/head - 2mm foam tan
wing - Congo Hair shiner tan
legs - medium rubber corn snake
indicator - 1mm foam orange
