It's been a few years since I fished those lakes. An olive Carey special and dark Stayner Ducktail worked well for the perch and trout.
Blue Skunk
Hook - Single salmon
Thread - Black
Tag - Oval gold tinsel
Butt - Yellow ostrich feather
Ribs - Oval gold tinsel
Body - Pale blue wool or floss
Wing - White skunk hairs (or substitute) over black squirrel tail
Cheeks - Jungle cock
Hackle - Black hen feather

The "Blue Skunk" is a creation of Mr. Yves Veilleux. It has proven itself on several rivers in the Gaspé Peninsula.

Those would work just by themselves. So you tie them on the straw and then put a head on them. What are you using to create the head, pink thread and UV cure?

If anyone wants to catalog their previously-tied flies on MyFlyVise: You can go back to the post, click "edit," then click the MyFlyVise button on the toolbar. It will automatically detect and import your photos. Makes it much, much easier to get them up there. No need to download the old photos or find them in your phone again.

Yes tyed on coffee stir straws. The heads are tied with single strand floss the UV cure and I make the heads that big on purpose to splay the legs of the hootchies out for more action
