Looking forward to seeing them again this summer, although I doubt the spruce trees are. Pretty basic stuff; added a shoulder just because. Here’s the video if you’re interested.

Tied mine a bit differently than Mr. Jacklin’s; head/wing is done as a Spundun (I prefer that over the half-bullethead he used) and the butt is added separately. Included an underwing for more floatation and a wider footprint (the natural is not an aquatic insect and when it hits the water it lays spread eagle); could probably skip the hackle.

Yellow Duce

Tail - Black bucktail hairs tied long
Ribbing - Heavy black thread
Body - Pale yellow floss
Hackle - Yellow tied on as a collar and tied back and down
Wing - Green bucktail tied low over the body, with an over wing of dyed yellow gray squirrel tail
