Last time I fished the Truckee near the NV border in CA, I was amazed to see how much blue were on the claws of the crawfish...it was at sunset...I'm likin' that...

Looking forward to seeing them again this summer, although I doubt the spruce trees are. Pretty basic stuff; added a shoulder just because. Here’s the video if you’re interested.

Jacklin’s Spruce Moth (variation)
Tied mine a bit differently than Mr. Jacklin’s; head/wing is done as a Spundun (I prefer that over the half-bullethead he used) and the butt is added separately. Included an underwing for more floatation and a wider footprint (the natural is not an aquatic insect and when it hits the water it lays spread eagle); could probably skip the hackle.

I tie this without the hackle and on Silver lake here in WA you never know if your gonna catch a crappie, blue gill or a trout. The Baitfish Olive Congo Hair for the underwing is a great option too
I'll need a few sz. 8 March Browns next time out. Here on a FM 5045.
